Would you prefer a freshly prepared meal by one of the top chefs in the world or would you prefer something you prepared for yourself that you prepared from month old food. We all would want the fresh food by a top chef.
In the verse God is trying to get the Israelites and us today to see that we are settling for less than what God has prepared for us.
He provides all that we need, yet we continously desire more and more of what the world has to offer. In the end, what the world has and what we strive for can't hold water to the true and living water who is God through Jesus Christ.
Turn your heart away from the world and toward God.
